Changing Children’s Lives With the Gift of Literacy

Imagine a young child receiving a book in the mail every month until the age of five. What better way to say reading is important? Children enrolled in the Ferst Program receive a new book every month in the mail until their 5th birthday. There is absolutely no cost (ever) to registered children in participating areas! The program is made possible through the partnership with local, all-volunteer Community Action Teams (CATs). Funding is provided through private donations, corporate sponsorships and grants. Contact us if you would like to help with a our local Program so that we may work together to bring the gift literacy to every child 0-5 years old.  Partnering together, we can help prepare every child for success in school and in life.

The Hancock Community Action Team is responsible for raising enough funding to support each child who registers for the program. The Ferstbooks initiative cost $36.00 per child/year. The FC-CIS of Hancock Board of Directors have issued a challenge called “The Ferst Four-Hundred” Reading Sponsors. Board Members have agreed to personally sponsor at least one child per year at the $36.00 cost. Will you accept our challenge and sponsor at least one child as well? If you would like to sponsor more, that would be fantastic. We will add your name to list of sponsors below. Click donate button below to donate now.
